PhD Candidate, Hacettepe University Language Instructor, Ba?kent University E-mail: ozkankirmizi@gmail.com ABSTRACT This clause aims at delineating the bonds between utilise philology (AL) and second language erudition (SLA) research within a philosophical and theoretical framework. The article initially traces the philosophical and theoretical basis utilise philology along with the birth of SLA research, and then draws conjunctions between applied linguistics and SLA. To do this in detail, issues that are inherent in applied linguistics research are examined in detail and points of corporation are highlighted. It is stated that second language acquisit ion is paladin of the most important areas of study for applied linguistics. The article similarly handles the relation between applied linguistics and language teaching.
